    Hi all-

I'm attempting to reformat an external drive that was once in my old Windows machine- I have no problem reading file on the drive, but it as marked as read-only and will not let me write/delete. I would love to reformat this drive at some point and find a better use for it, and any advice on how to fix it would be wonderful. Thanks!

I'm assuming you're using OS X! Use Disk Utility located in the Utilities folder.

Before I was even to the part where you praised the clip, I was navigating towards the post button to say that the clip is hideous and shouldn't be on there, lol.

I believe iOS zoom in / out when possible, to fit the content. Apple has a patent on it.

You should actually make a real page and content, then test.

May be a good idea to describe what these are -- photos, links?

They are a set of great studio monitors. If you're into a little home recording, you can't do much better for the money.

Seems like it's just invisible updates (ie. behind the scenes bugfixes). I don't see any new features.

So the nasty ical is still there? I hope that goes away; it's horrible looking on the desktop. With limited real estate on the screen, all that extra stuff just takes up space...

EDIT: Just looked at the screenshot from Dev. Prev. 2. It doesn't take up much space, actually, but it still seems out of place on an app that might share a screen with other apps. Part of the beauty of OS X is that many of the apps look alike, and there's not a lot of mixed up UI elements.

Email isn't sent "to your smartphone". It's sent to your email account. If you check it using your smartphone, that's not something the sender of the email has any control over.

What is your experience level in working with sensor networks, devices, etc.? What is your programming experience?

It sounds like you want a home automation system integrated with a computerized home security system. Some systems will do both, but not always, so you have to shop sensibly.

Starting from nothing at all, you should expect to spend at least a few hundred dollars to get started. If you already have something installed, such as sensors or controlled outlets or devices, the cost may be less. It depends on how well what you have can connect to the overall system architecture.

Where has this "7455A" idea come from? Link?

    rice_web:

If the 7455 has made it to 1.33ghz to 1.4ghz, then why do you think it took Apple so long to ship 1.25's? I think we can conclude that only a very small number of chips clock above 1.25ghz.

This could be as simple as setting up port forwarding on your modem/router or as complex as setting up routing on your network. It depends on your situation with your connection to the outside world.

I suppose a few more details for specific help would be required. Do you want it visible to the outside world, or just another subnet that you are connected to? Are you on a corporate network, or a small network with a basic ISP modem/router that you have access to?

Edit: Do you want to publish it to a hosted co.cc domain, or host it on your own server?
I would prefer to have it accessible by everyone, though I plan to only let a few people know the link to it.
I'm on a private LAN, nothing fancy or related to business or others aside from myself really.

I was told that I had to get an external domain for it to work, and I'd like to use that in the link.

I checked my 2WIRE and it said that Mac OS X server is already being forwarded, yet when I switch to a nearby separate LAN I am unable to get it to work.

    Thanks again. :)

Watch a video (http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/mac_mini_g4/) on how to replace the hard drive in an iMac G4.

My question was regarding any performance increase the OP saw with this upgrade.

I got a screenshot, these giant ads that cover the page are way to much. Plus they cover the search bar slightly which makes it harder to use.

Hi, I'm selling my 2007 White MacBook.

In line with most of the suggestions on this forum I've securely wiped the drive and done a re-install but have hit a problem.

The machine came with OS X 10.4 Tiger but I've since upgraded it to Leopard then Snow Leopard.

Ideally I'd like to give the new owner the new MacBook experience with the spinning Welcome text but I'd also like to stick them on the latest Snow Leopard.
The problem is, when I do a fresh install of Snow Leopard the machine won't have the iLife applications (they are on the original Tiger install disks).

Is there a way I can get the iLife apps on there without needing to set up an account on the machine?

If not, what's the best thing to do?
Setting up an account is something I'd rather not do (I know I'd be annoyed if I bought a second-hand MacBook and it already had an account on it).
On the other hand installing Tiger and giving them the upgrade disks also seems a bit poor too.

    Any suggestions please?

    Thanks in advance.

I used to love my wired keyboard and my mighty mouse and thought I would never ever get used to my wireless keyboard and magic mouse.

It took me a week or so, I will admit, to get used to them both and now I would not go back for all the tea in China!

Trust me, you will get used to them and never look back...:)

That depends on the applications. Some applications broke in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard for example, and shortly after 10.6 became publicly available at the end of August developers released updates for their Leopard compatible software to make it also run in Snow Leopard.
When Lion is finally released, it will have less incompatible applications anyway, as many developers and non-developers are testing 10.7 right now.

A headphone whose sound signature is as colored and disjointed as the beats by dre is the last thing you want when recording.

That's true for SNES, but can't find anything about that for N64. I just realised my N64 has some sort of cartridge adapter on it... maybe I just need to bite the bullet and buy a cheap N64 game.

    Greetings everyone,
I'm pretty newbie for the Mac world, so be patient please.
I have the chance to have a look at an Imac G3 400Mhz (Tangerine) 384Mb (64Mb originally).
Had to swap the hard disk because the 15Gb Quantum inside was broken.
So, reinstalled OS 9.2.2 on the new disk. Everything went fine.

Sorry for the preamble but the problem is:
I have a firewire inclosure like this: http://www.byteccusa.com/product/enclosure/ME-320.htm (model is: ME-320F - Oxford 911 chip) but can't have it recognized by the system.
The "System Profiler" shows the firewire bus (2.8.6) with (obviously) nothing attached to it.
I've tried dvd-rom burner, dvd-rom reader, hard disk but with no luck.
The device is not detected in startup, too. (I'd like to boot with that).
I've upgraded the iMac to the latest firmware but with same results.

Another strange thing: on the label on the back of the iMac I read: 400Mhz/512K L2/64MB/10GB/DVD/56. So I think that "DVD" should state for DVD-Rom reader, right? But actually there's only a CD-ROM reader in this iMac... How is it possible?

I hope you could help me.

    Thank you very much.
    Bye,
    Andrea

    + 1

I'd love to discover some apps that would be useful on set.

You should definitively consider using your iPhone as a phone, it has been a wonderful tool to help me keeping up with development and production on different projects. I use Skype a lot for international calls and email is a must have. Seems like a lot of people in the industry use an iPhone which makes sharing documents/calendars/contacts/etc... a lot easier ! :D
