2016 Lamborghini Ankonian

Some time in 2008 21 year old Slavche Tanevsky, who designed the Lamborghini Madura, and a student at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, finished a design he had been working called the "Ankonian". It was then chosen by Lamborghini head designer Wolfgang Egger along with 2 other concepts as possible future production models for Lamborghini. Production date to begin in 2016. Tanevsky was then sponsored to make a 1/4 scale clay model of the car with a little help from top designers for Lamborghini and Audi. On completion the concept was announced to the world.

People all over are really buzzing about this concept. Even people who never really cared about Lamborghini in the first place. Personally though I'm not too impressed with this one. It's not really a concept, just bits and pieces stolen from other existing vehicles. Kind of like when a rapper takes pieces from songs, and puts them together and then sales it as their own creation. The first thing that comes to mind is the Batmobile in newer Batman films. I mean it's almost exactly like it, then you look closer at the "inner car" and realize you're looking at a 96' Chevy Camero with a body kit on it.

It does have the futuristic look that Lamborghini is going for, but I'm just not sure redneck apocolypse is really going to sell that well. Not to mention besides the unique and "cool" look of this Road Warrior type Lambo, it's an engineering design failure. All the jutting and protruding edges would cause some serious air friction, making the vehicle horrible to drive in windy situations. Lamborghini has said that because of the concepts small size it would be a more environmentally friendly addition to their lineup. I think they forgot to figure in the amount of gas it's going to eat up trying to push this wind catcher through even moderate winds.

“In addition, the hot-rod stance gives it a push forward, and the symbolic presence of wings and the arrow-like door graphic make the car very dynamical, even when it is in standing position,” - Tanevsky

Translation: It will catch your attention. But then so will a convertible pink Pinto.

The Ankonian currently has no real specs to speak of, as it's still a long way off from the planned production date, along with the fact we're not sure Lamborghini will really choose this concept. But it is proposed to be a midsized engine vehicle. Not sure exactly what a midsized engine means for Lamborghini.
