Apple already stated that no hardware announcements were going to come out of WWDC.
Also changing the iPad 2 so closely to the initial release makes little business sense as they'll alienate a huge segment of customers who just bought an iPad 2.
You do realize that april fools was yesterday and not today

I believe you can run up to 10.2.8 on a Beige, but I agree that it's getting a bit too old to be usable these days.
I'm comfortably running 10.2.8 on a beige 300 now - and other than it being a good bit slower than my other machines, it's quite usable. I do plan to replace it in the coming months (just waiting for new machines at this point) but I'll still keep it up and running at home for my kids.
there is a hack under development to allow you to run panther on the beige, but it breaks a few things in order to do so, so I've shy'd away from it for now. If they get it to work 100%, I might try it. Othewise... 10.2.8 forever.
unless there's a 10.2.9 ;)

iWork Pages has a significant lag in accepting key input to a point that it is a few letters behind. It is proving unusable in taking notes during a discussion with other(s).
Has anyone experienced the something? Is there any fix to this input delay?
I have experienced this, and it's usually when I'm working on a doc that I imported from .doc or .docx - I don't seem to get it when I start a new document actually in Pages. Is this the same for you?

Yeah I downloaded it a few days ago, at first glance I had/have no clue how to work it. I suppose I will fiddle with it some more, thanks.
It's quite easy to work out, at least for me.
Maybe the following might help:

I don't think that really applies to Macs though.
With AMD, new chips are being released constantly. With Mac computers, a new revision of the Powerbook can happen anywhere from 6 months or longer. So people are more willing to wait for the new macs to be released, so that they can have the latest and greatest for those 6 months or longer.
I don't know why, but even though there's a lot of rumours about the next revision of the PBG4 being released within the next few weeks, i just don't think it's going to happen.
Don't get me wrong, i hope it does as i want one, but i've got a feeling that we won't be seeing a new mac for a while (Maybe January). None of these rumors seem to have any hard kind of facts to base their estimations of the release on.

I'm tring to sell it because I bought 2 iPad 2's hoping to make a $100...
You are going to get a lot of HATE from the members of MacRumors if you are trying to make a profit off the iPad 2 release. Shame on you BTW.

Kingston SSDNow V+100 SVP100S2B/96GR 2.5" 96GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?SID=u1181863t2861741f9fp0dd0c0s701&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&Item=N82E16820139412&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na)
Finally ready to jump in on an SSD, and this particular model is $120 at newegg AR. I did some research, and it got high marks for low power consumption, but scored behind in other areas. It doesn't have any reviews on newegg, but they seem positive. Maintaining battery life is important to me, so that part seems good.
Does anyone have this particular drive, and if so, how has it worked out for you? Would you recommend it? Seems like a good deal getting 96GB for $120. FYI this will be my boot drive as part of an OptiBay setup.
Thanks!

Hm. Has anyone else seen this?
http://store.apple.com/uk-edu/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac/select?mco=MjIwNTQyNjE
The educational discount on iMacs in the UK used to be 12%. I know this because the top-end iMac that I bought last October, which should've been 1,649, was 1,452. Plus, AppleCare was reduced from 139 to 34. So, all in, about 1,486.
Looking at these figures, it seems to me that the discount's been reduced to 6%. And now, AppleCare costs almost 118. Had these been the prices seven months ago, my iMac would've cost me another 180-odd.
Has anybody in the UK tried to buy one of the new iMacs with the educational discount? Are these figures accurate? I'm asking because it never used to be possible to access these figures away from a university computer - you'd only get the educational pricing from an institutional login, or by phoning the Apple Store hotline - whereas I'm suddenly able to access them from my desk at home. I'm wondering whether (and kinda hoping that...) this is a website screw-up.
It all seems rather odd. Odd that Apple would cut the discount by such a substantial proportion - which is bound to dissuade some students from buying one - and odd that I can suddenly access this part of the website.
Cheers,
DH.

Ever since I installed USB Overdrive on my imac last night, my mouse has been clicking randomly whenever I move it. This is making it a REAL pain to do ANYTHING, especially considering that I'm a graphic designer and need a STABLE mouse. This thing just clicks, the scroll button clicks, and the right button clicks... whenever I'm moving it. It's incredibly frustrating and I don't know how to change it. I'm scared to move the mouse over ANY files because it will just drag things randomly or open things that I didn't want it to open. Seriously annoying!
I've uninstalled USB Overdrive - that didn't help. Switching to another USB drive didn't help. And I'm worried that buying a new mouse won't fix it. What do I do? I don't want to have to back up my entire computer and reset it just to fix the damn problem.
I have a 24 inch imac with Intel and the standard wired mouse that comes with it.

Why use vintage Mac computers?
I guess that should be a FAQ. :D There's been plenty of discussion in various threads about it:

I like mine because they're all curious period pieces. They are a snapshot in time of the state of the art of user experience. (And, you can't read an 800k diskette without one.)

My greatest piece of work is still in the development process. Its a web based appplication (product) I am working on for my company that will hopefully take off in the very near future. I took a screenshot to show off my limited UI design skills, but eventually should have a demo for people to use at some point.
PS. I removed the product name for business reasons.

Thanks for the pointers. The NAS is (no surprise...) attached over the network, so I don't see it as an available drive in CCC (nor SuperDuper). Might be time to brush up on my rsync skillz.

Well first off, I don't think there has been much of a performance difference from the i5 and i7 on the 13". There is some definite gain going from the 13" to the 15" though. So if you were considering the 13" I would urge to go the i5 route. You could save that money for a SSD or RAM or something like that.
What about screen size? Have you used a 13" or a 15" screen? Some people find that the 13" is just too small...so maybe a 15" with HiRes or something for you if that's the case.
Hopefully I'm not confusing you even more as to what to get.
Thanks for the response!
I went into the Apple store yesterday and had a look, unfortunately the only applications available were like Safari and itunes. Which seems fine, but for programming/photoshop, I'm not sure it may be large enough. I probably won't be doing as much heavy activity on the go, but I just don't want it to bottleneck/crash any intense applications since it's a dual core.
Thanks,
- Toimia
