If you turn on Home Sharing, you can play anything in your iTunes library on your iPhone without syncing it first. Isn't that sorta the same idea?

Yes, I think Home Sharing is the only way to do that.

I would recommend that you check with your broadband provider (BT ?) first. Here in the US such a setup would be considered illegal. Not that people don't do it but.... The other consideration is that I believe I've heard people state that BT only allows so many MBs per month so that would limit how much access people would have. Not a problem if people are just surfing and emailing but it could be a problem if someone was downloading large files.

Hi, I know this is not the place for this, but ive tried every other computer site on the net, this is the only one left.

Ok, ok. I own a windows computer. I bought a imac G3 to replace it. as soon as i get the mac working, i notice my PC is acting a little crazy. So i turn it off and on again. Normaly, the fan spins for about 15 seconeds, and then it boots. This time, the fan STAYS on and there is no video wahtsoever. It's been 3 days, and Im desprate to get all my music off of it and onto my mac, but nothing's working.

Like I said, this is the wrong place. but i was hoping one of u guys used a windows comp once or twice

Some suggestions... (I think the site is great)

some of these might have been mentioned before..

1: When you select a genre from the right section on the main page it takes you to the genre page. I would like to see the recommendation count listed next to the song name.

2: When I go the search page the search inputs are at the bottom of the page (table problem?) (PC at work)

3. Displaying songs -- is there any rhyme or reason as to how the songs are displayed? alpha by band -then album -then song would be nice.

And 4: When you search or display enough songs to have a 'Next Page' link you do not have any idea how many pages there are. A page count would be nice. IE: Page (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

There's always a chance that you may lose data, especially as disk failure could be the cause of the problems. Make sure you backup everything you need before doing anything else. But if the drive is not failing after all, then repairing the disk's file directory in disk utility should probably fix it.

For the record, I submitted the story with a different headline, and even previewed it :) Maybe MacBytes meant to replace the MDN link with the InternetRetailer link that MDN references. They must have accidentally pasted the URL over the title instead of over the old URL.

Anyway, my headline was something like:

"Apple.com is now the computer company site with most AND longest visits; tops Dell by 50%"

I seem to recall Apple.com being on top in NUMBER of visits for a while, but someone else (HP?) had visitors stay the longest and browse. Now Apple is on top in both respects--surely a measure of increased interest in the platform.

Not bad to have a high average stay-length, with all the people checking the home page for 1 second during the iTunes million promo :D

(Oh--and the MDN wide problem is only because someone posted a huge wide link in the comments below the article: Apple vs. Dell and MS on NASDAQ (http://quotes.nasdaq.com/quote.dll?mode=basics&kind=&timeframe=1y&intraday=&charttype=ohlc&splits=&earnings=&comparison=on&index=&symbol=DELL&symbol=MSFT&symbol=AAPL&FormType=&mkttype=&pathname=&page=charting&selected=AAPL).)

Hello, hope someone can shed some light on this problem, think its terminal though.

I was using my macbook (2007 mid) and was all fine, i went back a couple of days later, took it out of my bag and booted it up to find a large black area on the screen to the right with a large white square under it. The whole of this area is dead, the rest of the screen is fine. How has this happened whilst in the bag, looks to me like a right hand thumb my be the culprit but i would never hold my mac like this.

Any help would be great.

I have rooted my Motorola Droid and use both Barnacle and Wireless Tether apps on a regular basis for my iPad.

Works great although rooting the droid was a little harder than jailbreaking my iPhone...

I'm putting together a second RAID 1 setup as I've filled my first 1TB mirrored RAID (LaCie) with photos and videos. I'm a freelance photographer and these drives hold my livelihood so RAID 0 is out of the question.

I've picked my RAID enclosure (NewerTech Guardian Maximus) but found it's cheaper to buy my own bare drives and put it together myself.

I found a great deal on 2TB WD Green Drives with 64mb cache and 3Gbps SATA but then realized they are 5400/5900 RPM drives. This is mostly for storage of my RAW files that I read/edit using Lightroom in addition to storage of video files that are edited etc via FCP.

I'm on a 2010 15" MBP which means eSATA is out and I'll be using FW800. While out of the question from the start, I realize that buying 10,000 RPM, 64mb cache, 6Gbps SATA drives is silly because they'll be limited by the throughout of FW800.

So, keeping in mind that FW800 is the limiting factor, do I need 7200 RPM drives? 64mb cache? 3 or 6Gbps SATA?

You have to do at least 95% of the work before you ask for help. You need to isolate the problem and then post for help if you can't figure it out. If you can't / won't isolate it, you are not going to get much help. The beauty of this system is that your odds of figuring it out on your own after isolating it go way, way, way up. Cheers.
